With support from IM Swedish Development Partner, WAG implemented a project on Promoting adolescents and young women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights in Chipinge District. The project goal was improving the health and socio-economic wellbeing for young women and adolescents (11-35 years). WAG mobilised young women and girls to access comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services working with different stakeholders Ministry of Women Affairs Gender and Community Development and the Ministry of Health and Child Care to ensure project sustainability and buy-in of the community. Under the project community based advocates were trained on sexual and reproductive health issues, advocacy and leadership. One of the key achievements of the projects was the CBAs receiving seed funding for self-help projects. CBAs have embarked on poultry projects and are doing very well. Health clubs and Internal and savings groups have been formed and is a platform for young women and girls to discuss further discuss SRHR issues. Netballs were donated to the clubs to use during the meeting for self –esteem and well-being.
